Lisa Manzo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Pennsylvania and California. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Adelphi University in Garden City, New York.  Although a native to the east coast, Ms. Manzo has practiced clinical social work for over 20 years in California.

Ms. Manzo’s professional experience has been in a variety of clinical settings. Most recently, Ms. Manzo was employed as a Family Court Services Specialist for Los Angeles Superior Court. Ms. Manzo obtained specialized training in conducting child custody mediation and evaluations. Her expertise in these areas allowed her to assess families going through divorce and separation and to develop appropriate custody/parenting plans in the best interest of the minor children. Assessment of these families included identifying risk factors including domestic violence, child abuse, substance abuse, and mental illness. Ms. Manzo’s recommendations were then presented to the court through written report and oral testimony.

Ms. Manzo’s additional clinical experience includes work as a school-based therapist conducting individual and group therapy with children and adolescents diagnosed with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, anxiety and depression as well as with foster youth in residential treatment. She is trained to conduct solution team meetings with youth to foster empathy and to end bullying.

Ms. Manzo also has clinical experience with adults and seniors in community-based outpatient settings offering individual therapy for those with mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder and end of life issues.

Ms. Manzo’s warmth, acceptance and compassion for others are apparent through her ability to develop strong, trusting, therapeutic relationships with her clients. Ms. Manzo works with clients from a variety of therapeutic perspectives. She believes in the importance of a person-centered approach while also gently challenging individuals to focus on their strengths and find solutions to their difficulties that work for them. She is honest, open and direct in her collaborative style with clients, allowing the development of a safe, supportive environment where clients feel respected and encouraged, and where they ultimately become empowered to make positive changes and reach their goals.
