Dr. Joanne Diacogiannis is a Licensed Psychologist in Pennsylvania. Dr. Diacogiannis has extensive experience and expertise in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapies (CBT), including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and is Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology from the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP).
Dr. Diacogiannis is a graduate of the University of Hartford where she earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Dickinson College, where she assisted with policy and program development changes to drug and alcohol services. She completed additional pre-doctoral training at a variety of clinical settings, including a drug and alcohol recovery center, forensic settings, college counseling centers, and outpatient clinics. Additionally, Dr. Diacogiannis has a breadth of experience in crisis management, after working at a psychiatric hospital and providing on-call crisis services at multiple agencies.
Dr. Diacogiannis specializes in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders, substance abuse disorders, and eating disorders. She has received specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), under Dr. David Tolin at Anxiety Disorders Center in Hartford, CT. She completed her doctoral dissertation on eating disorders, and has worked within an integrated medical team to effectively treat eating disorders from a CBT- Enhanced (CBT-E) model. She has provided trainings on CBT-E and supervision of other professionals working with eating disorders. Dr. Diacogiannis has provided therapy at every level of substance abuse treatment services, including in-home therapy services. As a member of Center for Integrated Behavioral Health’s Dialectical Behavior Therapy Team, Joanne is receiving intensive training and consultation in DBT treatment, utilizing her experience with crisis management, substance abuse, and eating disorders to effectively treat high risk behaviors.
Dr. Diacogiannis’ approach to treatment combines scientific knowledge, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and influences of Positive Psychology. She believes in utilizing a client’s strengths and resources to promote personal growth and empower clients to make positive life change. She has worked with clients across the lifespan and specializes in treating adolescents and adults.
